It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Mark Thayer on January 3, 2024 surrounded by his devoted family.
Mark was born May 24, 1958 alongside his twin brother Scott. They were welcomed to the world by their parents, the late Mary Elizabeth (Bailey) and Willard Thayer of Jordan, New York.
Mark’s deepest love was reserved for his family. In July of 1985, he married his cherished wife and best friend, Amy. Together, they embraced the joys of parenthood, raising two daughters who illuminated Mark's world.
Becoming a grandfather brought an extraordinary joy and warmth into Mark's life, radiating through every moment spent with his adored grandchildren. Affectionately known as "Mark A. Paw," this title soon became universal for those that were fortunate to know him.
A 1976 graduate of Jordan Eldridge Central School, Mark was an exceptionally gifted carpenter with a creative passion for woodworking and teaching others. He enjoyed golf, playing guitar, and any time spent outdoors. He and his wife enjoyed their travels RVing with their beloved dogs. An avid Syracuse basketball fan, his loyalty to the team was unwavering.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Thayer (Bowers), daughter Bailey Frizzell and husband Matthew, daughter Reilley Jones and husband Nathan, grandchildren Ellen, Mark, Nathan Jr, and Ashlyn, along with brother Scott and wife Mary, sisters Judy Brinkerhoff (Duane) and Mary Fischer (Robert). Additionally, he is remembered by his uncle and aunts , in-laws and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mark was fortunate to be a cherished member of a vast and loving extended family. In addition to his late parents, Mark is predeceased by his sister, Sally Anne.
A memorial Mass honoring Mark will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Danville, VA, on January 22, 2024, at 2 pm.
