Marilyn Motley Snead, 90, of Charleston, SC, passed away on October 27, 2021. She was born Marilyn Robertson Motley on August 13, 1931 to Bertha Wilkinson and Lindsey B. Motley. She grew up in Danville, VA and received her B.S. and M.Ed. from Lynchburg College. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Lawrence Rucker Snead, Jr. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Lynne Carroll and husband, Tom, four sons, Rucker Snead and wife, Karen, Bill Snead and wife, Jackie, Mac Snead and wife, Stella, and David Snead and wife, Lori; grandchildren, Lars Snead, Ali Snead, Audrey Willingham, Kendall Snead, Morgan Viars, Jimmy Houser, Anthony Carambia, Stephanie Saunders, Lauren Escue, Jordan Snead, Carson Carroll, Sully Carroll, Collin Carroll, Cooper Carroll, Keegan Carroll, Reagan Snead, Delaney Snead, and Darel Snead; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Earl Willis of Danville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Charleston, S.C. and served in several different ministries within the church. She was retired schoolteacher from the Roanoke, VA City School System. She loved cats, going to the beach with family, and reading. A graveside service will be at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA on Friday, Nov. 5 at 3:00 pm with Dr. Spike Coleman officiating.
