Marie Sadd

February 12, 1922 — February 28, 2013

Marie Compton Sadd passed away on February 28, 2013 at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was a daughter of the late Willie Lynwood Compton and Bertha Henderson Compton. Marie was a graduate of Dan River High School and Averett College. After graduation she made her home in Washington, D.C. where she was Administrative Secretary for the Director of the National Gallery of Art for forty years, returning to Danville in 1982. She was a member of Kentuck Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband Commander Victor Sadd and a brother Averett Compton. She is survived by her sister Betty Gentry of Danville, brother Eldridge Compton of Greensboro, NC, nephews Carl L. Compton and wife Rita of Cleveland, OH and William Averett Paulius and wife Paulette of De Pere, WI, and great nephews and a great niece. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Highland Burial Park with Reverend R.J. Barber, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Townes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, is serving the Sadd family.
