Margaret H. Wood passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, April 4, 2017 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born on July 27, 1921. Her parents were the late Harry Bates Hodnett and Lottie Burke Hodnett of Danville. In September of 1946, she married Harold Louis Wood. During their marriage they became Charter Members of Trinity United Methodist Church and Tuscarora Country Club. They remained married for 68 years until his death in October of 2014. Margaret is survived by two sisters, Frances Lewis and Mildred Chilton. She is also survived by two daughters, Barbara Motley and her husband Buster, Nancy Still and her husband Billy, three grandsons, Oliver Still, Brian Still, Aaron Motley and his wife Lisa. Margaret retired from the C and P Telephone Company where she was a dispatcher. Before and after retirement, she loved going to the beach, playing golf, playing bridge, shopping, gardening, canning, cross-stitching, reading, working the cross-word puzzles, and caring for her grandsons. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church until her health declined. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader and being involved in the Trinity Circle. The family wants to thank the Administrators and staff at Roman Eagle for their support and care. We would also like to thank her “special sitters.” Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. from the graveside at Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Charles Wickham officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Barbara and Buster Motley, 116 Canterbury Road. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Wood family.
