Margaret Scott Hooker Williams passed away peacefully on November 16, 2015 in Richmond, Va. She was born in Martinsville, Va. on March 7, 1933 to the late Samuel Arthur and Margarita Scott Hooker. Margaret attended Martinsville City Schools graduating in 1951. She attended Marjorie Webster Junior College in Silver Springs, Maryland and received her Associate Degree in early education in 1953. She opened and operated a private kindergarten in Martinsville from 1953-55. Margaret met and married Thomas H. Williams on June 11, 1955 and they lived most of their married lives in Danville, Va. She was an active member of the Epiphany Episcopal Church in Danville and for many years enjoyed conducting the children's Christmas program. She was an active member of The Wednesday Club, The Gabriella Garden Club, and other charitable organizations. Margaret was a warm and loving person who cherished her family and friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas H. Williams, her daughter, Laura W. Rosenstock and brother, Samuel A. Hooker Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy W. Kristofak (Bobby) of Richmond; a son, Thomas H. Williams Jr. (Sharona) of Furlong, Pa.; eight grandchildren; twin great-granddaughters; son-in-law, John K. Rosenstock of Richmond; sister, Nancy Hooker Manning of Kinston, N. C.; and three nephews and their families. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 23 at 2 p.m. at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Rebecca Crites officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, Va. 24541, or the charity of your choice.
