Marcia Lynne Brown Cook, age 75 of 4180 Riverside Drive Unit 604 passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at her residence after a decline in health for the past three years. She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on January 5, 1941, daughter of the late Reginald Garland Brown and Gladys Meador Brown. She was self-employed as an Interior Designer, taught Interior design classes at Danville Community College, worked for Mental Health as a counselor and retired from the State of Virginia as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. A member of First Baptist Church and a choir member. Also a member of the Wednesday Club. She is survived by a sister, Colleen DiPaul of Tacoma Park, MD; three daughters, Lynne Freeman of Bear, DE, Melody Cook of Danville and Jennifer Amos of Lawsonville, NC, six grandchildren; Timothy Stowe, Andrew Baggerly, Nicholas Freeman, Ethan Freeman, Jessica Amos and Jordan Amos. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend John Carroll and the Reverend Joe Northen officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 10 to 11 A.M. and at other times will be at the residence, 4180 Riverside Drive Unit 604.
