Mack Carson Stewart, 82, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 in the Carilion Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia, on October 26, 1932, a son of the late James W. Stewart and Harriett S. Stewart. Mack was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the United States Navy. He was an active member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church. He was also a past member of the Danville Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. During his early business career, he was an automotive parts sales representative. Mack loved people and had a natural compassion for helping people. Stewart, of the home; a son, Mitchell Stewart and his wife, Debbie, of Danville; a daughter, Peggy S. Ingram, and her husband, Tom, of Glen Allen, Virginia; and a sister, Mary Sue S. Martin, of South Boston, Virginia. Mack had four grandsons, Aaron M. Stewart and his wife, Nikia, of Danville; Bryan S. Ingram and his wife, Lindsay, of Glen Allen; Joel T. Ingram and his wife, Megan, of Richmond, and Adam F. Stewart of Danville; four great-grandchildren, Greenleigh Stewart, Carson Ingram, Carrington Stewart, Paul Stewart; and Savannah Ingram who is due any day. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends at Mount Hermon Baptist Church with the Reverend Josh Mark, the Reverend Ryan Riley, and the Reverend Jack Stewart officiating. A private interment for the family will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence, 127 Westmore Drive.
