Mack Carson Stewart, 82, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 in the Carilion Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia, on October 26, 1932, a son of the late James W. Stewart and Harriett S. Stewart. Mack was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the United States Navy. He was an active member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church. He was also a past member of the Danville Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. During his early business career, he was an automotive parts sales representative. Mack loved people and had a natural compassion for helping people. This led him into the field of funeral service where he was an assistant funeral director and embalmer with Townes Funeral Home for over 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Marie H. Stewart, of the home; a son, Mitchell Stewart and his wife, Debbie, of Danville; a daughter, Peggy S. Ingram, and her husband, Tom, of Glen Allen, Virginia; and a sister, Mary Sue S. Martin, of South Boston, Virginia. Mack had four grandsons, Aaron M. Stewart and his wife, Nikia, of Danville; Bryan S. Ingram and his wife, Lindsay, of Glen Allen; Joel T. Ingram and his wife, Megan, of Richmond, and Adam F. Stewart of Danville; four great-grandchildren, Greenleigh Stewart, Carson Ingram, Carrington Stewart, Paul Stewart; and Savannah Ingram who is due any day. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends at Mount Hermon Baptist Church with the Reverend Josh Mark, the Reverend Ryan Riley, and the Reverend Jack Stewart officiating. A private interment for the family will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence, 127 Westmore Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity or organization of your choice.
