Randolph Graham Bradshaw entered the Church Triumphant on January 24, 2019. He was born June 29, 1924, in Clifton Forge, VA, son of the late Harry Cleveland Bradshaw and Rose Higginbotham Bradshaw. He was educated in the public schools of Bluefield, WVA, and in 1942 entered the University of Virginia where he was a member of the Raven Society. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1948. His internship in Medicine and residency in Radiology were completed at the University of Virginia Hospital. Dr. Bradshaw served in the US Navy V-12 program from 1943-1945 and was on active duty from 1948-1951, part of that time aboard the USS Aultman. On May 20, 1950, he married the love of his life, Alice Moore Bradshaw, who survives. They have 3 daughters, Rebecca Meadema (Sam) of Danville, Sharon Chapin (Steve) of Brentwood, TN, and Suzanne McWhorter (John) of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Ames. Also surviving are a brother, Charles Thomas Bradshaw (Ruth Anne) of Brevard, NC, and 8 grandchildren, R. Bradshaw Turner (Lindsay), Camille Winter, Abby Steketee (Steve), Zach Chapin (Jordan), William Bond (Kristy), Fletcher Meadema (Rachel), Lucy Hill (Chris) and Alice McWhorter. The Bradshaws have 6 great-grandchildren, Marie, Kaylan and Luke Winter, Anne Thomas Chapin, and Esley and Mac Hill and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Bradshaw practiced medicine in Columbus, GA and in Bedford, VA. He was an active member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Bedford where he served as a Sunday school teacher and in leadership roles. He enjoyed music, boating, water skiing, circuses, and hunting and was a member of the Westwood Hunt Club in Bath County. He lived his life with faith in God, exuberant joy, unusual unselfishness and humble simplicity. His family will forever cherish memories of his wonderful stories and booming laughter. The family is grateful for the exceptional and compassionate care given by Dr. Pradeep Pradhan, Christopher Barley, Ann Stamps, James Mendenhall, Carolyn Stainback, and the SOVAH Hospice. Dr. and Mrs. Bradshaw moved to Commonwealth Senior Living at Stratford in 2016 and joined First Presbyterian Church last year. A memorial service will be held on Sunday afternoon, January 27, 2019 at 4PM at First Presbyterian Church and a graveside service in Lexington, VA, at a later date.
