Lucille Taylor Shelhorse, age 100, of 125 Arnett Blvd., Danville, Virginia, died in her sleep on March 7, 2013, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home. She was born on September 19, 1912, in Culpeper, Virginia, the daughter of the late Oliver C. and Sarah Clarke Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll H. Shelhorse, who died on may 29, 1989, and also by her brothers, O.C. (Jim) Taylor and Leslie E. Taylor, and her grandsons, Hugh Miller, Jr. and Bruce Miller. Mrs. Shelhorse is survived by her daughters, Sarah S. Miller and her husband Hugh, and Carolyn L. Shelhorse with whom she resided. She is also survived by her niece, Judy Hall and her husband Wayne, and by her nephews Leslie Taylor, Jr. and his wife Rosemarie, Clarke Taylor, Gatewood Taylor and his wife Lee, and Lindsey Taylor and his wife Janell, and by a dear friend Elaine Shoaf. Mrs. Shelhorse was a homemaker who especially enjoyed creating baked goods for her family and friends. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. For many years she was an active member of the United Methodist Women and chairperson of the Beth Conerly Circle. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church on Arnett Blvd., with her pastor, the Reverend Charles Wickham officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper, VA at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, with her son-in-law Hugh W. Miller officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Fund, 409 Arnett Blvd., Danville, VA 24540.
