Loyd Clifton Williamson, 96, of Danville, Virginia passed away on September 11th, 2023, in Blairs, Virginia, surrounded by his family. Born on February 12th, 1927, in Danville, Loyd was a compassionate “rascal” who would go out of his way to help others. He was a certified Master Plumber and Welder, owning and operating his own business well into his 80s - often providing free services to those in need.
Loyd is survived by his children, Lawrence Cumbo (Nancy) of New Port Richey, FL; Linda Overcash of Danville, VA; Jerry Williamson of Danville, VA; and Jaqueline Adkins (Rufus) of Blairs, VA.
He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Chris Webb of Bassett VA; Ryan Webb of Danville, VA; Tiffany Strobeck (Kyle) of Guantanamo Bay; and Justin Adkins of Rocky Mount, VA, as well as his great-granddaughters and his special baby “Little Bit."
He is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Frances Ewing Williamson, and his grandson Richard Webb. Loyd was a loving family man.
Loyd served in the Army in Korea and was proud of his military associations. His dedication to his country was unwavering.
There will be a private ceremony to honor Loyd’s life, and the family requests no visitors. The Townes Funeral Home in Danville, VA is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family ask that anyone wishing to celebrate Loyd’s life do so by giving a hug to a loved one and always telling them that they are loved.
Loyd Clifton Williamson will be remembered for his selflessness, his dedications to helping others, and his love for his family. May he rest in peace.
