Mrs. Lois Cox Lewis of 224 Courtland Street died at her residence on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 after a decline in health. She was born in the Pelham community of Caswell County, NC on May 14, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Calvin Simpson Cox and Sadie Moran Cox. On March 28, 1959 she married the late Jerry Wayne Lewis who died February 21, 2009. She was also predeceased by a brother, Leon Cox and a sister, Adell Cox. She was retired from American National Bank as a bank teller. Mrs. Lewis is survived her son, Mike Lewis and his wife Katherine of Danville, grandchildren, Laura Klump (Mike), James Lewis (Laura Beth), and Nathaniel Lewis, two great-grandchildren, Ayden Samuels and Janson Lewis, one brother Ronnie Cox. She is also survived by a very, very special friend Billy Rigney. Lois enjoyed dancing before she became ill, two or three nights a week, especially on Friday nights at the Senior Center. The family would like to thank all of the aids, nurses, and counselors from Liberty Hospice that took special care of Lois and her family. Also we would like to thank Billy Rigney for his love, devotion, and care that he also provided. It has meant more than you ever know. A special thank you to Doctors Harris, Madon and Quaranta and their medical staffs as well as Doctors at Duke for incredible care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11 A.M. from Fairview United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jennifer Coffey officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 6:30 to 8 P.M. and at other times will be at the residence of her son and his wife, 2709 Westover Drive.
