Lois Lazenby Denny died January 10, 2021 after a period of declining health. She was born July 12, 1928 in Roanoke Virginia to John and Minnie Lazenby who predeceased her. A graduate of Jefferson High School, she had a full and happy childhood, the memories of which warmed her thoughts throughout her life. On a trip to Danville in the late 1940s, she met the love of her life, Bob Denny, and embarked on a life together which would last until his death in 2015. Together they raised a family of three boys. She is survived by Jay (Judi), David (Karen) and John (Dianne) and grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, Claire and Sarah. There were two things that meant everything to her and served as a focus for her life: her faith and her family. The hallmark of her life was raising and nurturing her children. She taught the boys so many skills which have helped them throughout their lives. All three learned, in some measure, how to cook, clean and take care of themselves. To her the highlight on any day was when she had her family at her table eating her cooking. Those occasions filled her with pride and immeasurable joy. Above all, Bob and Lois provided a foundation of honesty, candor and caring for others. They lived these values for all to see. A lifelong Methodist, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, participated in small groups. In addition, she was a long-time member of Eastern Star and, with Bob, active in Scottish Rite activities. Before their health declined, Bob and Lois travelled extensively with several groups in Danville and with family and friends. These trips took them to Europe, the Caribbean and throughout the United States. Recollections of the trips and the people seen on them were always subjects for conversation. The family wishes to thank the staff at Spring Arbor, OBX which provided her with superb care over the past six years. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
