Lessie Owen Emerson Webb, age 90, of 533 Piney Forest Road, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at SOVAH Health - Danville. Lessie was born in Blanch, NC, on August 30, 1930, a daughter of the late Lawson Benjamin Emerson and the late Minnie Maude Owen Emerson. Mrs. Webb graduated from Schoolfield High School then obtained a certificate from DTI which is now known as Danville Community College. Lessie assisted her family working at the Curb Market in Danville. She also worked at Danville Parts and Body where she met her future husband, Fred Kenneth Webb, who she affectionately called Dusty and he affectionally called her Chicken. After marrying on June 23, 1955, she continued working as a bookkeeper for Fred K Webb Welding. She was a member of Good Home Primitive Baptist Church in Axton, VA and was known to all for her sweet smiles and generous hugs. Besides her mother and father, she was predeceased in death by her husband, Fred K. Webb, also by her six brothers, John R. Emerson, Lawson C. Emerson, James T. Emerson, Earl K. Emerson, Andrew J. Emerson, and Harold E. Emerson. Lessie is survived by her sister, Sarah E. Lovelace. She is also survived by her four children, Donna Webb, Jennifer Webb Turner and her husband Carroll, Fred K. Webb, Jr., and Sarah Webb Kubic and her husband Dan; five grandchildren, Chad Turner and his wife Stephanie, Travis Turner and his wife Sara, Dr. Krista Turner Kitchen and her husband Dr. Tony Kitchen, Jennifer Kubic and Brianna Kubic; two great-grandchildren, Emily Turner and Holden Emerson Turner. Aunt Lessie is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Townes Funeral Home will oversee funeral arrangements with services being conducted on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2 pm at Townes Memorial Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Highland Burial Park. Visitation will start at 1 pm prior to funeral service. Face masks and social distancing will be practiced during visitation and services. The family will receive friends and cards at 533 Piney Forest Rd. The family requests that memorials be directed to DLSC’s Danville Area Training Center at 630 Randolph St. Danville, VA 24541.
