Leo Normand Santerre, age 85, of 417 Sandy River Drive, Danville, Virginia passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on October 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Hormidas G. and Wildred L. Santerre. He graduated from Nashua High School and Danville Technical Institute. Leo was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean conflict. He was an employee of Corning Glass for 30 years. Leo was married to Jean Denny Santerre for 63 years. He was a devoted father to Patrice S. Kramer (Stuart) of Danville, Virginia and Cynthia S. Finney (David) of Collinsville, Virginia. He is survived by four wonderful grandchildren whom he adored; Bryna L. Kramer of Arlington, Virginia, Hannah E. Finney of Collinsville, Virginia, Noah S. Kramer of Danville, Virginia, and Vera B. Finney of Richmond, Virginia. He is also survived by his brothers Elmer Santerre of Wilton, New Hampshire, George Santerre of Nashua, New Hampshire, and his sister Theresa S. Creteau of Hudson, New Hampshire. Leo was pre-deceased by an infant daughter, and his brothers, Bob, Reggie, and Guy Santerre, and his sister Celeste Santerre of Nashua, New Hampshire. A celebration of Leo’s life will be held on Saturday, December 15 at 2:00 PM at the chapel at Townes Funeral Home, with the Reverend Lisa Nordan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Danville, Virginia.
