Lelia Slusher Coates, 95, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, June 27, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Coates; two special nephews, Danny and Jimmy Boothe; parents, William and Louise Slusher; brothers, Bill, Joe, Leo, Lewis and Tom Slusher; and two sisters, Betty Nester and Julia Ann Slusher. Lelia is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Betty Slusher; a sister, Hazel Rutrough; sisters-in-law, Juanita Slusher and Phyllis Slusher, and brother-in-law, Bob Nester; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are dear friends and caregivers, Randy Vasold and Ella Indge. Lelia enjoyed a full and happy life with her work at C&P Telephone Co, traveling with her husband, golf, and in later years became a very talented artist. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She also served in the United States Army as a WAC. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Mountain View Cemetery with the Reverend Susan Hannah and the Reverend Jessica Slusher officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home prior to the service.
