Judy Adkins Oakes, age 72 died December 28, 2014 at the Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital in Hendersonville, NC after a decline in health. Before being admitted to the hospital she was a resident at the GoldenLiving Centers in Hendersonville, NC She was born in Danville, VA on May 28, 1942, a daughter of the late Luther Troy Adkins and Lillie Martin Adkins. She grew up in Danville. She was a graduate of George Washington High School, Class of 1960. After marriage she lived in Spartanburg, SC returning to Danville in 1988. She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer with the Ladies Benevolent Society of Danville Regional Medical Center for many years and she was an avid golfer and artist. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her siblings, Nancy Lee Williams and Luther Troy Adkins. Surviving is a brother, Donnie Leon Adkins of Danville and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with the Reverend Barry Foster officiating.
