Juanita Fowlkes

Mrs. Juanita Owen Fowlkes, 92, of 224 Courtland Street died on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Sovah Health-Danville after a decline in heath.                Mrs. Fowlkes was born in Danville on March 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Francis E. Owen and Elizabeth Fingen Owen.                Mrs. Fowlkes was of the Methodist faith.  She was retired from Dan River, Inc. working in 8-A Dress.   She was married to the late Lewis H. Fowlkes on March 29, 1946.  He died November 21, 1968.  Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother John E. Owen.                Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Brewer of Providence, NC and Darlene Dodd and her husband Ronnie of Ringgold, one son, Donald W. Fowlkes and his wife Kim of North Myrtle Beach, SC.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.                Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:00 P.M from the graveside at Highland Burial Park.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm and at other times will be at the daughter's  residence at 542 Mountain Hill Road, Ringgold, Va. beginning Friday, November 10th.                               It was her wish that everyone attending the visitation and service dress casual.                The family requests that memorials may be directed to Ringgold Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 3380, Ringgold, VA  24586.
