Joyce Walton Miller, 90 of Danville passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 21, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born June 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late J. Robert Walton and Margaret Walton. Joyce married the love of her life, Lowell Thomas Miller on November 27, 1957, and they spent 56 wonderful years together. Joyce graduated from Longwood College with a Registered Nurse Degree in May 1956. She was employed as a Registered Nurse for 29 years at Camelot Nursing Home (Piney Forest Health and Rehab), where she received multiple employee of the month awards and is always remembered for her kind and caring nature. Joyce was a loving wife and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and her church family at Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was involved with the United Methodist Women, Hermitage Giles, and volunteered for multiple committees with her church family. She was a talented cook with her famous corn pudding, chocolate chess pies, and chicken casseroles. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time with family in Florida, trips to Lake Junaluska Methodist retreat, and the Smoking Mountains.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Terri Bagley (Chris), and two sons Rob Miller and Alan Miller (Crystal), three grandchildren Sofia, Madsion, and Mackenzie Miller, sister Ann Frazier and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Lowell Thomas Miller, son Tommy Miller, brother-in-law Lindsey Frazier.
The family will have visitation at Trinity United Methodist Church in Danville, VA on Wednesday October 23, 2024, from 6pm to 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens Cemetery. All other times the family will receive visitation at the home of her son and daughter in law, Alan and Crystal Miller at 265 Ridgecrest Dr. Danville, VA.
