Joyce Marie Casey Francisco, age 81, formerly of Old Mayfield Road and now residing on Blair Loop Road, went to be with the Lord in the early hours of August 22nd. Marie was born on February 21, 1933, the daughter of Howard Casey and Lessie Gravely Young and George Young. She was married to B. B. Francisco on November 16, 1953. They were married for 32 years until his death on June 4, 1985. She is survived by her son Bernie Francisco and his wife Julie, and her daughter Connie Francisco Rush and her husband Stan. She cherished being a grandmother to five grandchildren: Ashley Rush, Lauren Ross, Brooke Rush, Claire Francisco, and Joseph Francisco. She is also survived by one sister, Barbara Brown, and several nieces and nephews. Marie was a devoted employee, retiring first from C & P Telephone Company after 31 years and First Citizens Bank after 18 years. Marie graduated from Schoolfield High School in 1951. She enjoyed attending the reunions and was proud of her Green Dragons. Marie was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Marie never met a stranger and had countless friends. She was a member of the ABWA and was selected as Woman of the Year. She also served many years with the March of Dimes and local election board. Marie's greatest joys in life were her dear friends, Danview's chocolate pie, traveling, going to the movies, and Sami, her beloved cat. Reverend Ronnie Brown will be conducting the service at Woodlawn Baptist Church on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 2 P.M. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. Visitation will also be at the church on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. The family will receive visitors at the home of her son, Bernie Francisco, 1928 Blair Loop Road.
