Joyce Crawford

On Wednesday, November 1, 2018 Joyce Elaine Mays Crawford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family & close friends.    Joyce was born on June 25, 1947 in Danville, VA to Herbert & Virginia Mays.  She graduated George Washington High School & Averett College in Danville.     On June 15, 1969 she married William "Billy" Crawford, and on October 28, 1973 they were blessed with a son Brandon.      Joyce was passionate & very involved with her church, at both West End Christian, and more recently Moffett Memorial Baptist.  She was an avid lover of music and movies.  She was well known for her kind and compassionate nature, never having a shortage of loving friends.      She is preceded in death by her father Herbert, and her mother Virginia.    She is survived by her husband William, son Brandon, daughter in law Allison, brother Steven Mays, sister in law Judy Elliot, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.     A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church at 2:00pm.   The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM to1:45 PM prior to the funeral.    In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, 1026 N Main St, Danville, VA 24540, and Commonwealth Home Health Nursing and Hospice, 159 Executive Dr., Danville, VA 24541, or your favorite charity.
