Joseph Dickerson

Mr. Joseph M. Dickerson, age 88 died on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Danville Regional Medical Center.                Mr. Dickerson was born in South Boston on December 31, 1928, a son of the late Noble Dickerson and Elizabeth Dickerson.                Mr. Dickerson was a member of the Tabernacle.  He owned and operated Dickerson Janitorial Service until his retirement in 1989.  On April 20,1962 he married Shirley Wood Dickerson who died December 12, 2002.                 He is survived by two sons Joseph (Joey) Lee Dickerson and his wife Elizabeth Kim of Danville, and Malcolm S. Dickerson and his wife Mary of Ashland; one daughter Deborah Ann Franks and her husband Robert of Virginia Beach; one sister, Mary Vernon of Alton.  Also surviving are five grandchildren; Lauren Elizabeth Dickerson, Matthew Franks, Nicholas Franks, Brian Dickerson and Baylor Dickerson.                Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Joey Bray officiating.  Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.                The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 7 to 8:30 P.M.                Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Dickerson family.
