John Joseph Fox, Jr., 66, of 496 Hawthorne Drive, died suddenly in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, July 12, 2014. Beloved husband of Jane Leonard Fox and father of John Daniel of Winston-Salem, NC and Jessica Lynn of Raleigh, NC. John is survived by his mother Evalyn Marie Berlenbach and stepfather Francis Berlenbach of Toms River, NJ and siblings: Kathleen Harper of CA, Michael Fox and his wife Roseanne of NH, Timothy Fox and his wife Barbara of NJ, Mary Anne Fox of MD, Christine Fox of NJ, and Evelyn Wavrek and husband Stephen of NJ. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Daniel "Dutch" Leonard and his wife Molly of NC, Jennifer, Stephanie, Patrick, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Matthew, Christopher, Emily, Kate, Kohl, Hunter, Jack, Nicholas, Alison, and Devin. John received his BS in Textile Chemistry from University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. He practiced these skills and knowledge at Leslie Fay where he met his loving wife of 41 years, Galey and Lord, Gaston Industries, West Point-Pepperell, Southern Dyeworks, Vikon Chemical, Dan River and JF and Associates. John was the former owner of Radio Shack and Mr. Movie of Elizabethtown, NC. While working in Sales at Crown Automotive of Greensboro, he received the highest elite award, Crown Master Sales Guild, and a member of Acura Council of Sales and obtained Silver status. In earlier years, he was active in the Lincolnton and Elizabethtown Jaycees (past presidents) and the Kiwanis Club, and a former Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #6143 of Danville. He was also a past chairman of the Tory Hole Park Committee of Elizabethtown and assisted with building the park. John took after his father, John J. Fox (deceased), as a "jack of all trades." He enjoyed home renovation, yard work and learning how to "fix things." His family has fond memories of his love of singing (Sacred Heart Catholic Church choir), snacking on anything chocolate, and "resting his eyes" (napping) in the recliner. John loved to talk about cars and was the proud owner of a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang. He had a great appreciation for American workmanship and could often be found watching WWII documentaries and movies of the History Channel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at a later time in Lincolnton, NC. Friends are welcome at the residence at any time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
