After retirement John enjoyed going to his family farm at Sandy River, listening to country music, riding his golf cart on trails, watching his Cubs play baseball, and enjoying the Andy Griffith Show. He also liked being a volunteer at Roman Eagle Nursing Home. John loved telling jokes and was a good friend to all who knew him. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marguerite (Rita) P. Allen; three daughters, Frances Gail Allen of Ringgold, Susan Allen Moore of Clayton, NC and Jane Allen Furrow of Danville.
