Joan Allen Leggett died peacefully at home Sunday, November 17, 2024, after a period of declining health. A private burial was held by the family.
Joan, the daughter of Henry Edgar and Helen Allen, was a lifelong resident of Danville. Joan loved her family and was loved dearly by them. As a wife and mother of five children, Joan was happiest at home with them. She enjoyed collecting, decorating, and studying ancestry.
Joan was preceded in death by her mother and father, Henry Edgar Allen and Helen Winn Allen, her sister, Betty Mae Watlington, her daughter Joan Wynne Leggett, and her granddaughter Grace Alice Reynolds.
She is survived by her husband, Fred B. Leggett, Jr.; children Fred Leggett III (Rena), Will Leggett (Elizabeth), Mike Leggett (Sarah), Helen Reynolds (Rusty); grandchildren Henry Leggett (Amanda), Shannon Lemus (Edgar), Bennett Leggett (Courtney), Sarah Katherine Pyrtle (Matt), Benn Leggett (Katie), Joan Wynne Reynolds, Holland Reynolds; great grandchildren Mariah, Kate, Hank. Addie, Henry, Collins, Ella, Hannah, Bennett, Lucy, John, Barbara Sue, and Lillie Alice.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who lovingly cared for Joan.
