Joan Crews

Joan (Billie) Dameron Crews passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was born December 13, 1933 and was married for 57 years to John Thomas Crews until his passing in 2011.    The daughter of William Reid Dameron and Dottie Marie Dameron Short, she is survived by her three children: Amy Crews Baxter (husband Dave) of Seneca, SC, Alan T. Crews (wife Robin) of Danville, and Emily Crews (husband Mikael Manoukian) of Arlington, VA. Survivors also include one grandson Jon David Baxter (wife Anne-Marie and sons David James and Benjamin) of Windham, Vermont and niece Bonnie Hundley (husband Steve) of Chatham.    Joan was a graduate of George Washington High School and spent most of her working life employed by Dan River in the Inventory Control department. She adored her beagle Dixie, loved visiting with her family and friends, and watching dance, golf and tennis.    The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 7:00 8:30 PM at Townes Funeral Home and at other times at the family residence.    The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Daryl Joyce officiating and burial following at Mt.
