Mrs. Jennie Gettys Rogers of 324 Virginia Avenue died Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Danville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Knoxville, TN on November 10, 1942, a daughter of the late James Evans Gettys and Jane Ashe Gettys. . Mrs. Rogers was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a Master Gardener. She was retired from Corning, Inc. with many years of service. She was graduate of Fairfax Hall in Waynesboro, VA and attended the University of Tennessee. She was married to the late Ivey Gray Rogers who died April 2, 2012. Surviving are her children; Jane Folger Rogers-Haynes and her son Steven Gray Haynes of Danville and Mary Park Rogers Garrison and Greg Garrison of Richmond and their children, Gwendolyn Jennie and Hunter Ivey. Also surviving are her sisters; Rose Gettys Hust and Catherine Ashe Gettys both of Knoxville, TN, Molly Gettys Peckels of Houston, TX and Anne Gettys Brownell of Philadelphia, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 1 P.M.from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Father Rene Castillo officiating. Interment will follow in Red House Presbyterian Church cemetery in Semora, NC. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6 to 7:30 P.M. and at other times will be at the residence, 324 Virginia Avenue.
