Jennie Meade

Jennie Sue Webb Meade died peacefully on Dec. 11, 2013 in her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Kenbridge, Va., on June 12, 1927, the daughter of the late Richard Garner Webb and Louise Walker Webb. Mrs. Meade was predeceased by her husband, Harry Stratton Meade and one brother, John Manson Webb. Mrs. Meade was a graduate of Kenbridge High School. She also graduated from Longwood College with a Teaching degree. Mrs. Meade taught several years at Forest Hills Elementary School. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, where she served on the Altar Guild. She was a longtime member of the Gabriela Garden Club of Danville and an avid volunteer at the Free Clinic of Danville. She was married on April 7, 1956, to Harry Stratton Meade of Danville, Va. He was the son of the late John Steger Meade and Ella Louise Stratton Meade. She is survived by her son, Harry Stratton Meade, Jr., and his wife, Julie Mason Meade of Danville, VA; a daughter, Heidi Webb Meade, and her husband, David Robert Ruev of Northlake, TX and four grandchildren, Harry Stratton Meade, III, John Mason Meade, Catherine Louise Ruev and Nicholas Alexander Ruev. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday Dec. 17 at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany by the Rev. James Mathieson, with burial in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 222 Magnolia Drive, on Monday, December 16, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The family gives a special thanks to Hattie Wilson - friend and caregiver and Julie who was wonderful.
