Jean Melton Swicegood

Jean Melton Swicegood, 93, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia.

Jean was born on September 30, 1931, in Danville, VA, and was a daughter of the late Jesse Ray Melton and Mamie Gillispie Melton. She lived her life in Danville, VA and retired from Daly Seven at the age of eighty-four. She had a passion for travel, friends and most importantly family.

Jean is survived by three children, Janet Livick and husband Mark, Dewey Swicegood and wife Peggy and Joel Swicegood and wife Mollie, six grandchildren, Jessica Gower and husband Brendan, Lindsay Clark, Caroline Swicegood and husband Serdar Cakici , Laura Paige Clark, Erin Clark and John Clark. and three great grandchildren, Ellis Gower, Grace Gower and Aylin Cakici. She has two great nieces and one great nephew who were like grandchildren to her, Maggie Melton Walsworth, Claire Melton and Ethan Melton.

In addition to her parents, Jean is predeceased by Tim S. Clark, her longtime partner, Polly Melton, her stepmother who raised her, four sisters, four brothers and a great granddaughter, Lena Cakici.

The Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Mountain View cemetery in Danville, VA, with Reverend Joe Northen officiating.
