Millie Jean Gravely Fowler went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 16, 2016. She was born on February 11, 1933, in Pittsylvania County, VA. Beloved daughter and youngest child of the late Lewis Gravely, Sr. and Nena Byrd Gravely. Devoted wife of the late Thomas Langston Fowler for 50 years. She was the loving mother of two sons, Thomas Langston Fowler II and his wife, Jeanne, of Danville, VA, Barry Alan Fowler and his wife, Melody, of McLeansville, NC; and a daughter, Starlette Fowler Early and her husband, Alan, of Lynchburg, VA. Cherished grandmother to five grandchildren, Dusty F Easley and her husband, Micah, Traci F Nuckols and her husband, Keenan, Justin Fowler, Hannah Early, and Jacob Early; and great-grandmother to Edward Easley, Easton Nuckols, and the late Kade Nuckols. She was a dear sister to Lewis Gravely, Jr., of Danville, VA. In addition to her parents, husband, and great-grandson, she was predeceased by brothers George Kent Gravely, Basil A Gravely, and Lance B Gravely; and sisters Barbara Ann Gravely and June G Simpson. Mrs. Fowler graduated from Schoolfield High School and followed with a career as a bookkeeper in the automobile industry before her retirement. She was a member of Rivermont Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her love of Jesus, family, and friends, as well as lighthouses and gardening. A funeral service will be held at Townes Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, with Rev. Terry St. John officiating. Interment to follow at Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 18, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., and at other times at the residence of 3056 Franklin Turnpike.
