Janie McFarling Wilson, 92, of 510 Rosemary Lane, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in SOVAH Health Danville. She was born on August 17, 1925 in Danville, a daughter of the late Harry M. McFarling, Sr. and Shirley Whitler McFarling. Janie was married to James Swanson “Pete” Wilson, Sr., who passed away on January 28, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a sister, Helen Adams; and two brothers, Harry M. McFarling, Jr. and Tommy McFarling. She worked for a number of years for Dan River at Hylton Hall and later with Quality Control Exterminating Company as a bookkeeper until her retirement. She was a member of College Park Baptist Church. Janie is survived by two sons, James S. “Jimmy” Wilson, Jr. (Susan) and Kenneth B. “Ken” Wilson; a daughter, Jane Wilson Hill (Springer) all of Danville; four sisters, Shirley Nance, Carolyn Blair, Linda Gover (Skip) and Martha Athey, all of Danville; five grandchildren, Angie Lawson (Morris), Kori Wilson, Janie-Lynn Hill, Tess Wilson, and Jacob Wilson; and two great-grandchildren, Quentin Wilson and Hunter Lawson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2 PM at Townes Memorial Chapel by The Reverend CAM McIntire and The Reverend Archer McIntire. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the service at Townes Funeral Home from 12:45 PM until 1:45 PM and at other times at the residence.
