Jane F. Price

September 27, 1938 — April 7, 2025

Jane Frances DuFresne Price died Monday, April 7, 2025 at the age of 86 years. Born in Camden, NJ on September 27, 1938 to Raymond and Madeline Lafferty DuFresne, she was raised among a large extended family in South Philadelphia, Pa.

When Jane was a young teenager, a serendipitous ride on the bicycle of a handsome neighborhood boy set her off on a lifetime of adventures. The boy on the bicycle was to remain the Love and focus of her life from that day forward.

Jane married “Donny” Price in 1956. By that time he had joined the US Marine Corps and their newlywed life was dictated by Don’s military orders. For thirty years of military service Jane followed her Love as he was stationed in NC, Va, NJ, and Pa, setting up a cozy household for their growing family at each destination city. During his overseas deployments to Japan and Vietnam, she returned to her family in Philadelphia to anxiously await his return to the States. She wrote letters to him EVERY night while he was away, and she and their children took great joy in receiving his many letters filled with messages of his love and longing to see them all again soon. Jane was his rock, his pride, his reason for living an honest and decent life. Theirs was a strong marriage that stood the test of time. It served in providing their children and grandchildren with structure, direction and above all else, the knowledge that they were cherished and loved.

After their retirement, Jane and Don moved back to Danville, Va where Jane played a crucial role in the upbringing of her precious grandchildren. She loved being around babies and she was as devoted to her grandchildren as she had been to her children. Each grandchild felt as if they were Gram’s Favorite!

Jane was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Don; two brothers, Eddie and Jack DuFresne; sister, Theresa Garza; and son in law, Randy Moore.

Jane is survived by: three children, Debbie Moore, Kathy Poindexter (Brad), Don Price, Jr (Sherry); seven grandchildren, Michael Moore, Stephanie Wilson (Danny), Richelle Price, Sasha Poindexter, Zarena Poindexter, Donny Price III and Caitlin Price; two great grandchildren, Michael Touchstone, Jr and Aralyn Price. Jane is also survived by her very special cousin, Patsy Herrschaft of Glassboro, NJ and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Jane’s tender hearted and amazing caregivers/angels: granddaughters, Stephanie Wilson and Zarena Poindexter for their loving and prolonged care, Jane’s sitters during her last days: Cathy Truesdell, Ann Stamps, Sheritta Brooks and Debra Hardy for their expertise, love and support, and Mountain Valley Hospice for providing exceptional care and service to our beloved mother.

A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, April 10 at 11:00am.

Jane will be buried with Don at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
