Jane Hawker

December 30, 1941 — August 4, 2024

Jane Brumfield Hawker, 82, passed away August 4, 2024. She was born in Pittsylvania County on December 30, 1941, to the late Perrow Brumfield and late Ellen Walker Brumfield.

Jane was a paralegal for Virginia commonwealth attorney William H. Fuller III for 46 years. She was a member of Shermont Baptist Church where she was active in the choir, Sunday school, benevolent committee, stitchers and royal gems. In 2009 Jane received the Liberty Bell award when she retired.

She is predeceased by her sisters Nancy B. Stowe, Lucy B. Haynes and Alease “Pug” Hunt. She is also predeceased by her brother P. A. Brumfield Jr.

She is survived by her son Edward Hawker (Cindy), sisters Tink Emerson, Lois Crane (Raymond), and Vicky Yarbrough (Tim). She is survived by her grandchildren Ethan Hawker (Gillie), Evan Hawker (Madison), Davis Fowlkes, Kati Jo Fowlkes, great-grandchild Elijah Cade Hawker arriving in October and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday August 8, 2024, 2:00pm at Shermont Baptist Church with Pastor Ryan Riley officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Shermont Baptist Church building fund.
