James Ramsey

James Hughlett Ramsey Jr., 80, of 119 Wilton Avenue passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Danville Regional Medical Center. He was born in Lynchburg, VA on February 19, 1935 the son of the late James Hughlett Ramsey Sr. and Elsie Daniel Ramsey. He graduated from E.C. Glass High School, attended Virginia Tech and Lynchburg College, and served in both the Army and Air Force. After working for the Dr. Pepper and Pepsi Cola Bottling Companies in Lynchburg and Danville he retired from Danville Distributing Company in 2000. During his lifetime he enjoyed golf and photography. He is survived by his wife Julia H. Ramsey of the home; two sons, Jeff Ramsey of Harrisonburg, VA and David Ramsey and wife Jill and grandson Laurin of Chatham, VA; a sister Patsy Downey and husband Jimmy of Big Island, VA; and a sister-in-law Carolyn Puckette and husband Cecil of Forest, VA. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Townes Memorial Chapel with Reverend Bruce Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, is serving the Ramsey family.
