James Edward Mendenhall

James Edward “Bro” Mendenhall, 73, of 934 Colquhoun Street, Danville, VA, departed this life peacefully at Carillon Hospital of Roanoke, VA on January 10, 2025.

James was born July 11, 1951, in Danville, VA to the late Samuel Mendenhall, Sr. and Inez Mendenhall. He was educated in the Danville Public School system. He attended church faithfully with his friend and employer, Mr. Townes. He loved the Lord.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Inez, two brothers David and Samuel Jr., six sisters, Janice Metts (James), Brenda Moore (Larry), Elder Gaynell White (Sterling), Cynthia Williams, Sharon Reeves (Marcellous Jr.), and Bonnie Mendenhall, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Samuel Mendenhall, Sr. and two sisters, LaVerne Robertson and Carolyn Evans.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Townes Funeral Home with Pastor Hubert Pannell officiating. Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
