Mr. James Addison Martin, age 93, of 437 Southland Drive passed away, Monday, November 11, 2013 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was born on November 2, 1920 in Danville, a son of the late William S. Martin and Annie Blair Martin. He attended Brosville High School and was Valedictorian of his class. Mr. Martin had served in the United States Army. He was an Engineer for thirty-three years with Norfolk-Southern Railroad where he retired in l983. Mr. Martin was inducted into The Voting Precincts Organization and served for many years. He was a life time member of Morotock Lodge. He was a charter member of Fairview United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for numerous years. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Thelma Matney Martin of the home. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by two brothers Patrick H. Martin and William S. Martin, Jr. and one sister, Ethel Martin. He is survived by a son, James A. Martin, Jr. and wife Charlane of Clearwater Beach, FL, step-sons, William C. Dellinger and wife Rebecca of Danville and David E. Dellinger of Chesapeake, VA. Also surviving are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family gratefully acknowledges the care of Mr. Martin by Ozelia Olushola. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from Fairview United Methodist Church with the Reverend Kathleen Monge officiating.
