James Everett Collie, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully at Sovah, due to complications from a lengthy illness, on Friday, December 6, 2019. A Danville native, Jimmy was born on June 25, 1931, a son of the late James Everett Collie and Esther Mylum Collie. He was a graduate of Brosville High School and was a farmer for many years. He was a loving husband and father, and fun grandfather. On June 12, 1954 he married Jettie Lee Allen. Upon retirement from farming, he worked at Triangle Cleaners with his wife. In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by a son, James Allen Collie and wife, Diane; a daughter, Cynthia Lee Collie; two grandsons, Dr. Christopher James Collie and wife, Jessica and John Alexander Collie, all of Richmond. Jimmy was a member of Vandola Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Daisy Collie Mitchell, and a brother, Bobby Carroll Collie. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, with the Reverend Dr. Scott Bortz presiding, at 2:00 p.m. at Vandola Baptist Church, 1950 Vandola Church Road, Danville, VA, 24541. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. before the service, and at other times at the residence of Jimmy Collie, 145 Fox Hollow Drive, Danville, VA.
