James Buck

James Giles Buck, age 76, passed away Friday evening, February 10, 2017 in Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.      He was born in Danville, Va. on November 6, 1940 a son of the late William Thomas Buck and Gladys Mae Hastings Buck.      He was a graduate of George Washington High School and was retired from Dan River, Inc. where he was employed for over 40 years.      James was a long time member of West Main Baptist Church serving as Usher chair for many years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Danville Travelers Protection Association.      James enjoyed walking outside and in the Danville Mall. He especially like his early morning walks observing nature and the birds chirping.      He is survived by an aunt, Margaret Buck Wayland and her husband, Lee of Danville and several cousins.      Memorial services will be held at West Main Baptist Church on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 2pm with the Reverend Bruce Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the service.      The family would like to especially thank the staff of Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for the loving care that James receive while he was a resident.      Memorials may be made to the West Main Baptist Church Endowment Fund, 450 West Main Street, Danville, VA 24541
