Jack Neal

March 24, 1943 — September 10, 2016

Jack L. Neal, Jr. born March 24, 1943 passed away peacefully October 9, 2016 at the age of 73.  Jack was born in Danville, Va to Etta Mae Holbrooke Neal and Jack L. Neal, Sr.  Jack grew up in Danville, VA.  He graduated from George Washington High School in Danville, VA and his most beloved Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He also received a graduate degree from Virginia Tech.  He was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a tobacco warehouseman for most of his life.  He loved his community. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother James Neal, and his brother William Neal.  He is survived by his sister Muriel Cleary of Michigan and his brother Edward Neal of Danville, VA and Naples, FL.  His two children Anne Neal Cranz (Lee) of St. Simons Island, GA,  Jack L. Neal, III of Danville, VA, and two grandchildren Thames and Keturah Cranz both of St. Simons Island, GA.  He also has many beloved nieces and nephews.  There will be a memorial service at 3 pm Friday October 14, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Danville.  Family will receive friends starting at 1:30 pm before the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History.  We want to thank the staff of Roman Eagle Nursing Home for all their care and support.
