On February 13, 2023, Irving Pickeral at the age of 86 heard the words he longed to hear. “Well done thy good and faithful servant, enter into the joys of the Lord.” Irving was born on May 8, 1936 to the late John W. Pickeral and Minnie Hines Pickeral. On September 4, 1960 Irving accepted Jesus as his savoir and served him faithfully every day until the Lord called him home.
He served at Park Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church for 34 years as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent and secretary and treasurer. In 1994 he transferred to First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Danville and served as a deacon, greeter and visiting the sick, shut ins until his health began to fail. Irving also volunteered for many years with Danville jail ministries. He worked for Dan River Mills in #5 inspection for 45 years. On January 30, 1965, he married Margie Wells Pickeral, who survives.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Susan Carol Wyatt (Mike Daniels), two grandsons Adam Wyatt (Jennifer) and Patrick Wyatt. He cherished his great grandchildren Landon Wyatt and Harper Grace Wyatt. He is also survived by his brother John W. Pickeral Jr.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sisters Peggy Terry and Kathleen Collins.
A visitation will be held Wednesday February 15, 2023, at Townes Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30PM and at other times at the home of his daughter Susan Wyatt. A funeral service will be held Thursday February 16, 2023 2:00PM at First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverend Myron Bruce officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.
