Iris Crawley Pryor of Pelham, NC died Monday, September 1, 2014. Services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at Pelham United Methodist Church with the Reverend Larry Durham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday September 3, 2014 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm at Pelham United Methodist Church. She was born August 29, 1917 in Pittsylvania County, VA. She was the daughter of the late Matthew John Crawley and Regina Motley Crawley. Her childhood was lived in Pittsylvania County and Danville, VA. She was a graduate of George Washington High School and Averett College. In public life, she worked as a bookkeeper and office manager. On April 10, 1943 she was married to Clifton Ford Pryor, who predeceased her on August 13, 2000. They lived 57 years together in Pelham, NC and were blessed with two daughters who survive with their families, namely Ruth Friedman and husband Neil of Richmond, VA and Gina Price and husband Danny of Seven Springs, NC and grandsons Andrew, Josh, and Sam Friedman all of Richmond, VA, Dan Price and wife Meaghan of Oxford, NC and John Price and wife Ashley of Ft. Polk, LA. In addition to her father and mother, she was predeceased by her sister Edith Crawley Fulcher and a brother Matt Crawley, Jr. She is also survived by seven nieces and one nephew as well as many friends. She has been a member of Pelham United Methodist Church since 1943 where she served her Lord in many capacities. She taught Sunday school many years, was church treasurer for more than twenty years, and served as UMW president and treasurer. She was a former member of the DAR, a member of the Virginia Society of the Dames of the Court of Honor, and Caswell County ECA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pelham United Methodist Church, Pelham, NC. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Pryor family.
