Mrs. Irene Owen Yeatts of 811 Kristen Lane, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC . She had been a patient at Duke University Hospital. Mrs. Yeatts was born in Pittsylvania County, VA, March 31, 1923. She was a daughter of the late James T. Owen and Georgianna Crane Owen. She was married to Joseph (Joe) C. Yeatts on October 20, 1942. She is survived by her husband of the residence, two daughters Sylvia Ramsey (and husband Leon), Anna Yeatts, and one son Rev. Joey Yeatts, two grandchildren, Stephen Ramsey and Ashley Ramsey. She is also survived by two sisters, Janie O. Shields and Anna O. Hayden. She was predeceased by five brothers, Elgin Owen, John Owen, Spurgeon Owen, Eddie Owen, and Richard Owen; and four sisters, Minnie O. Murphy, Viola O. Shelton, Selma O. Murphy, Ruby O. Oakes. She graduated from Spring Garden High School in 1940 and had lived most of her life in Pittsylvania County. She was a member of Mount View Holiness Church. Mrs. Yeatts had always been active in church work, having served as pianist, vocalist, Sunday School teacher, and a variety of other positions. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Townes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Joey Yeatts, Rev. Ed Branch and the Rev. Dr. Joseph Chambers will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Burial Park. The family will be at the residence, 811 Kristen Lane. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, 215 West Main Street is serving the Yeatts family.
