Ida Shelton Towler, 95, widow of Raymond E. Towler, of Danville, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Sovah Health – Danville. Born on January 28, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Henry C. and Eulalia Terry Shelton. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Ida was a charter member of North Main Baptist Church. She worked for Dibrell Brothers Tobacco Co. before retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Hugh, Edward and Allie Shelton; seven sisters, Mattie Lewis, Rena Lewis, Pattie Emerson, Eva Lewis, Lucy Motley, Elsie Myers and Beulah Harris. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Burial Park with Reverend Harold Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
