Herman W. Parker, of Danville, passed away at Danville Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. He was born in Reidsville, NC, on May 12, 1931, a son of the late James Burley Parker and Sally Dove Parker. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by two brothers, Rhether Parker and Ralph Parker; and two sisters Mildred Willis and Hazel Sheets. Mr. Parker was married to Jean King Parker who survives of the home. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a wholesale salesman for the Michelin Tire Company. He was a member of the Red Men, American Legion Post 325, an active member of Tuscarora Country Club and a member of North Main Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael Parker of Wilson, NC; one daughter, Kay Keesee and her husband, Peyton of Danville; three grandsons, Parker Keesee, Peyton Clay Keesee II, and Griffin Parker; and two brothers, J. B. Parker and Harold Parker. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at 2 p.m. at North Main Baptist Church with the Reverend Fred Unger and Reverend Wayne Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, October 17, from 7 to 8 p.m., at Townes Funeral Home and at other times at the residence, 217 Lady Astor Place. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice.
