Herbert Weatherford

Herbert F. Weatherford passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2018 at his home. Born on May 23, 1935 in Danville, VA, he is survived by his wife, Nancy Hylton Weatherford; sons, Herbert F. Weatherford, Jr. and wife, Kelli of Raleigh, NC; Barry H. Weatherford of Danville, one sister, Fran Wilson of Richmond, VA; and two granddaughters, Haley Weatherford and Paige Weatherford, also of Raleigh, NC. Herbert served in the US Army prior to his marriage to Nancy. He was employed by American Bakeries for 30 years before his retirement, after which he enjoyed a part-time position with ABC of Virginia. After his retirement he enjoyed spending his summers at their beach home in Oak Island, NC with family and friends. He was a longtime member of Fairview United Methodist Church, and always had a smile and a welcome for members and visitors. He served as Cubmaster of Troop 359 for several years while his sons were Cub Scouts. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at Fairview United Methodist Church, 1013 Westover Drive, Danville, VA 24541, preceded by visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors at the residence during other times. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to the Friendship Class of Fairview United Methodist Church.
