Helen Ogburn Harris, 95, of Danville died September 23, 2023, at home. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Fletcher D. Harris, her parents Julian S. Ogburn and Ellie Fitzgerald Ogburn Holton, two brothers Julian Ogburn Jr. and Jim Ogburn, both of Richmond.
She graduated from Brosville High School and attended Averett College (1946). She was retired from Harris, Harvey, Neal & Co., CPAs. She was a member of Fairview Methodist Church, Henry Hardy Fellowship Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Ann Eliza Johns Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She is survived by two daughters, Helen Kathleen Harris of Danville, and Ellen Harris Johnston (Lewis) of Philadelphia, three grandchildren, Micah Harris Crane, Benjamin Harris Johnston (Corinne) and Emily Fitzgerald Johnston, and great grandchild Harris Patrick Johnston. She is survived by one niece, two great nephews, a great niece, and other cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Desai and his staff, Dr. Shroff, caregivers Betty Walker, Debra Elmore, Shannon Melton, Gloria James, and Ardena Bigeloe for the exceptional care they provided their loved one over the last years of her life.
Funeral services will be held at Townes Funeral Home at 11:00am Saturday October 7, 2023. Interment at Highland Burial Park will be private for family only. In lieu of flowers consider the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541, or the Danville Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
