Hazel Dixon

August 30, 1923 — March 15, 2013

Hazel Abbott Dixon of 229 Wooding Avenue died Friday, March 15, 2013 in Piney Forest Healthcare Center. She was born on August 30, 1923 in Lemington, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of the late Henry Clay Abbott and Lula Canupp Abbott. She worked at Peoples Drug Store on Main Street for 8 ½ years and later for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company until her retirement. She attended in Christian Fellowship at Danville Bible Chapel. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by two sisters, Rosie Stewart and Dorothy Mathis. Hazel is survived by three sons, Buddy Dixon and wife Kathy, of Danville, Ben C. Dixon and wife Teressa, of Keeling, and Alan C. Dixon, of Danville; four daughters, Clarice D. Shrewsbury and husband Arvel "Pat", of Danville, Nancy D. Emerson and husband Louis of Blairs, Ann D. Laws and husband Kenny of Danville, and Barbara D. Bibee and husband David, of Blairs; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2013, at 2:00 PM from Townes Memorial Chapel with Mike Fox officiating. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at the residence of David and Barbara Bibee in Blairs.
