Harry Washington Scearce, Jr., 84, formerly of Danville, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the residence of his son, 9304 Pennywhistle Drive, McDaniel, MD. Born in Danville, Virginia on April 29, 1928, he was a son of the late Harry Washington Scearce, Sr. and Lelia Scearce. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean Conflict on the USS Tanner AGS 15 and was a member of the USVA. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was married to the late Margaret "Margie" Scearce and is survived by their four children, Michael J. Scearce and his two children, Kenton Graber and his wife Laura and their child Turner, and Whitney Ballou Crawford and her husband Dave and their child Danny; Roy Allan Scearce and his wife Diane and their child, Melisa and her two children Machaela and Michael, Jr.; Susan G. Kenly PHD; and Jane A. Birch and her husband Ray. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM from Mountain View Cemetery with Father Anthony Marques officiating. Military Honors will be presented by American Legion Post 1097 and the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard.
