Harry Sidney Burton, Jr., 93, of Danville, widower of Vennie Liner Burton, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1928 in Pittsylvania County, a son of the late Harry Sidney Burton, Sr. and Elizabeth Allen Burton. Harry served his country during WWII and Korea by joining the U.S. Navy. He was a supervisor at Dan River Mills until his retirement. He was an active member of Schoolfield Baptist Church. Harry enjoyed going on mission trips for over 20 years and countless fishing trips. He loved fishing in any body of water. He also loved being on his tractor in his garden. He is survived by his daughter, Rebekah B. Hobza, and husband, Todd; four grandchildren, Christopher Conway, Jennifer Conway, Todd Hobza, II, and his wife, Ashley Erb Hobza, and Richard Sidney Hobza; three great grandchildren, Malachi, Camden, and Beckett Conway; one brother, Noel Green Burton; and two sisters, Eleanor Howell and Juliette Sigé. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schoolfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 12 Schoolfield Drive, Danville, VA 24541. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Schoolfield Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
