Harold Fowler Brinkley, 97, passed away on March 15, 2024, at SOVAH Health Danville.
Harold was born on January 29, 1927, in Georgia, a son of the late Benjamin Hoyt Brinkley, Sr. and Era Linda Blackwell Brinkley. He graduated from Georgia Tech University and moved to Danville, VA in 1966 where he held various positions in the dye and finishing department of Dan River Mills. Harold was an active member of First Baptist Church of Danville, VA, and a deacon and usher of the church. He enjoyed reading and golfing.
On December 19, 1948, he married Ruth Crowder Brinkley, who passed away on August 8, 2012.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Rebecca B. Graham, daughter-in-law, T. Lisa Brinkley, grandchildren, Melissa R. Brinkley, V. Marie Brinkley, and James Fowler Brinkley, and a great-grandson, Matu’n Warren Ayala Brinkley.
In addition to his wife and parents, Harold is predeceased by a son, Stanley Warren Brinkley, and a brother, Benjamin Hoyt Brinkley, Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Townes Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Busby officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, and interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
