Guy Fowlkes

Guy Pearson Fowlkes, 86, of 110 Lady Astor Street, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 in Lynchburg General Hospital.    He was born on July 10, 1929 in Caswell County, NC, a son of the late Charles Jennings Fowlkes and Grace Pearson Fowlkes. He married the former Donna Jean Kirk on December 26, 1951.    Guy and Donna Jean lived most of their life in Providence before becoming a resident in Danville in 1997. He owned and operated Fowlkes Country Store in Providence until the late 1980s. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and attended First Presbyterian Church.    He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Fowlkes of the home; a daughter, Patricia Fowlkes Adams and her husband, Terry of Lynchburg; a son, Charles Kirk Fowlkes and his wife, Martha Dale of Wilmington, NC; and 3 grandchildren, Christopher Adams, Catherine Adams and Charles Adams.    He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Fowlkes, Jr.    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Townes Memorial Chapel at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Allen Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park.    The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Tuesday night from 7 – 8 PM.
